DC Infrastructure Academy

An unused elementary school was transformed into a state-of-the-art adult learning environment. Classrooms + office space accommodate the DC Infrastructure Academy adult education vocational programs that provide infrastructure jobs, counseling, and training. ISTUDIO + JP2 lead the design team during the preconstruction phase of the project. The team worked closely with the Department of Employment Services on the Phase 1 design, permit, and build on a fast track that met deadlines for the mayor’s initiative.

The scope of work required reconfiguring spaces + upgrading existing building systems to meet current building standards. Partitions with vibrant graphics + industrial materials defines spaces in the Great Hall for security, orientation, and counseling. Classrooms are finished with durable materials and the latest technology for jobs training in utility fields.
